Etymology

Inherited from Prakrit *𑀔𑀚𑁆𑀚𑀼𑀮𑀺𑀆 (*khajjuliā), from Sanskrit खर्जु (kharju, itching) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀮- (-la-) + -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-). Cognate with Assamese খজুলি (khozuli). Doublet of کھاج (khāj) and کَھرْجُو (kharjū).
