Etymology
Re-introduced and based on a learned borrowing from Classical Syriac, from Aramaic אִנְתְּתָא (ʾintəṯā), from Proto-Semitic *anṯat-; compare Turoyo ܐܰܬ݂ܬܐ (aṯto), Arabic أُنْثَى (ʔunṯā), Hebrew אִשָּׁה (ishá), Akkadian 𒁮 (DAM /aššatu/), and Ugaritic 𐎀𐎘𐎚 (ʾaṯt). Displaced completely by ܒܲܟ݂ܬܵܐ (baḵtā).
