Inherited from Aramaic חוּבָּא (ḥūbbā, love; burning sensation); in Aramaic, only found in Assyria Neo-Aramaic, Classical Syriac, and Turoyo (ܚܘܒܐ (ḥubo)); compare also Arabic حُبّ (ḥubb). In some dialects influenced by Classical Syriac, hence /ḥ/.
