    Inherited from Prakrit 𑀅𑀓𑁆𑀔𑀸𑀟𑀬 (akkhāḍaya), from Sanskrit अक्षवाट (akṣavāṭa), अक्षपाट (akṣapāṭa, wrestling-ground) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-).[1] Compare Punjabi ਅਖਾਡ਼ਾ (akhāṛā) (likely a Hindi borrowing), Gujarati અખાડો (akhāḍo), Bengali আখড়া (akhoṛa).
