Etymology

Borrowed from Punjabi ਕੰਘਾ (kaṅghā), from Prakrit *𑀓𑀁𑀓𑀳 (*kaṃkaha), from Sanskrit *कङ्कश (*kaṅkaśa), somehow related to कङ्कत (kaṅkata, comb). According to Turner, probably a non-Indo-Aryan borrowing. Cognate with Marathi कंगवा (kaṅgvā).
