Etymology
Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘏𑘰𑘝𑘹𑘽 (khāteṃ, “niche”), from Sanskrit क्षत्र (kṣatrá, “rule, authority”) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-). Cognate with Varhadi खातं (khāta), Ahirani खातं (khāta).
