Etymology
Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘤𑘱𑘑𑘚𑘜𑘹 (bighaḍaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀯𑀺𑀖𑀟𑀇 (vighaḍaï), from a derivative of Sanskrit विघाटते (vighāṭate, “to be marred, broken”). Cognate with Gujarati બગડવું (bagaḍvũ), Hindi बिगड़ना (bigaṛnā).
