Inherited from Sanskrit *भोला (*bholā).[1] Cognate with Punjabi ਭੋਰ (bhor), Gujarati ભોર (bhor), Maithili 𑂦𑂷𑂩 (bhor), Bengali ভোর (bhōr), Odia ଭୋର (bhora). Related to भोलानाथ (bholānāth, “Lord Shiva as husband of Ushas, goddess of dawn”).
