Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘩𑘻𑘩𑘜𑘹 (lolaṇe), 𑘩𑘻𑘯𑘜𑘹 (loḷaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀮𑁄𑀮𑁂𑀇 (lolei), 𑀮𑁄𑀮𑀇 (lolaï), from a derivative of Sanskrit लुडति (luḍáti, to stir) (compare लोडयति (loḍayati)).
