Borrowed from Classical Persian حرامی (harāmī, “thief, sinner, illegitimate child”), from Arabic حَرَامِيّ (ḥarāmiyy). By surface analysis, हराम (harām) + -ई (-ī). Cognate with Bengali হারামী (harami)
