Etymology 1
Inherited from Prakrit *𑀲𑀯𑀸𑀭 (*savāra). Compare Sanskrit सकाल (sakāla, “seasonable, opportune, early in the morning”), from स- (sa-, adjectival prefix) + काल (kāla, “time”); regarding the semantics, the morning is considered as an important time for various Hindu practices. Cognate with Gojri سَویر (saver), Kachchi સવાર (savār), Marwari सवार (savār), Sindhi سوارو / सवारो (savāro, “early”).
