Uncertain. Cognate with Northern Thai ᨶ᩠ᩅᩁ, Khün ᨶ᩠ᩅᩁ, Lao ນວນ (nūan), Lü ᦷᦓᧃ (non), Shan ၼူၼ်း (núun), Zuojiang Zhuang nuenh, Nong Zhuang noanh (“light yellow”).
