Cognate with Lao ໄປ່ (pai), Northern Thai ᨸᩱ᩵, Lü ᦺᦔᧈ (ṗay¹), Shan ပႆႇ (pài).

ไป่ • (bpài)

1. (poetic) used to express negation, denial, or refusal.
   • 1914, ชิต บุรทัต, สามัคคีเภทคำฉันท์:

     ไป่มีก็ให้มี ผิวมีก็จงพึง ให้ยิ่งภิโยจึง จะประสบสุขาลัย

     bpài mii gɔ̂ɔ hâi mii · pì-wá mii gɔ̂ɔ jong pʉng · hâi yîng pí-yoo jʉng · jà bprà-sòp sù-kǎa-lai

     If it does not yet exist, bring it into existence. If it has already come into being, increase it. Then happiness will be reached.
