ခိုင်

The "stalk" sense is, despite the -uing final, connected by STEDT to Proto-Tibeto-Burman *kuːŋ (“tree, branch, stem”) (whence also ကိုင်း (kuing:, “to bend over”)), which may be an areal word; see Old Chinese 弓 (OC *kʷɯŋ, “bow (weapon)”) for more.

The "durable" senses aren't given etymology by STEDT (khuiŋ "firm, strong, durable"), though a relation to the "stalk" sense appears feasible.
