Equivalent to ἐκ- (ek-, out of, from) +‎ στρᾰτείᾱ (străteíā, campaign, expedition), from ἐκστρατεύω (ekstrateúō, to march out; to take the field; wage a campaign) from ἐκ- (ek-) +‎ στρᾰτεύω (străteúō, advance with an army, wage war), from στρᾰτός (strătós, army, band of men).
