From Proto-Canaanite , from Proto-Sinaitic , from Egyptian 𓆛 (see jnt) or alternatively Egyptian 𓉿 (see ꜥꜣ) representing a doorleaf, whence the letter name 𐤃𐤋𐤕 (dlt, “door”).
