    Inherited from Sanskrit *पृथति (*pṛthati),[1] from the root पृथ् (pṛth, to spread). Cognate with Pali paṭhati, Kashmiri پَرُن (parun), re-borrowed Sanskrit पठति (paṭhati); see there for more.
