From -k (obsolete instantaneous suffix) +‎ -e- +‎ -l (frequentative suffix).

  1. (frequentative suffix) Added to an onomatopoeic (sound-imitative) root to form a verb to indicate repetitive action. No longer productive. It is used only in a few words.
    pöfékel (to puff, to emit smoke in puffs)
