Eemnes-Binnen
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as emnesse in 1269. Derived from a compound of the hydronym Eem and Middle Dutch nesse (“headland, spit”). The element binnen (“within”) refers to the village's location within the area protected by a former levee and was included to distinguish the settlement from Eemnes-Buiten.
