Goënga
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as goingum in the 13th century. Borrowed from West Frisian Goaiïngea, derived in turn from the dative plural form of Old Frisian Goinga (a surname) or, alternatively, a compound of Goinga and hēm (“home, settlement”). The element ga (“village, village area”) is a later addition.
