Reconstruction:Proto-Hellenic/əgatʰós
Proto-Hellenic
Etymology
Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *m̥ǵh₂-dʰh₁-ós (literally “great-doing”); compare Latin magnificus. However, Beekes is skeptical of the semantics; see ἀγαθός (agathós) for more.[1][2]
