Proto-Slavic

Etymology

From Proto-Balto-Slavic *sewk- (to turn, spin), (whence also Lithuanian sùkti (to turn)), probably from a Proto-Indo-European *sewk- (to bend, turn), which Snoj further considers an extension of *sewh₁- (to press forth).[1] See also perhaps Old Armenian հիւսեմ (hiwsem, to plait, weave),[2] Latin sucula (winch).

Verb

*sukàti[3][1]
