Of Sanskrit origin, from the prefix सु- (su-, “possessing good quality”), found in words such as सुन्दर (sundara, “beautiful, pure”), सुवर्ण (suvarṇa, “gold”, literally “possessing good color”).[1] Compare also the Asura brothers Sunda and Upasunda. More at Sunda.
