capë

See also: cape, capé, cápe, çapë, čape, and Cape

Albanian

Etymology

Either from Venetan zapa (id.) or Italian zappa (id.) , from a late Latin sappa, from Illyrian,[1] or alternatively from cap (he-goat), considering the resemblance of blades to the he-goat's horns. The presence of other meanings related to soil indicates a pre-Roman origin, thus resulting in the homophonic borrowing mixed with an indigenous word.[2]
