Etymology

According to Çabej, an onomatopoeia or elementary creation. Part of a rich phonolexical series represented by variants covering almost all vocalic grades ("a", "e", "i", "o", "u") and with consonantal variants with "c", "ç", "q", and "sh" (çak, cek, çek, qek, cik, çik, cok, çok, qok, cuk, quk, çuk, etc).[1] According to Orel a variant of cerk (to hit).[2]
