Part of the lexical group of cak and cekë, with the -më suffix. Related to cikmë (dry cold) and cegëm (dry cold, bitter cold), with the metaphonic chain a:e:i.[1]

Uncertain. Word present in the southern Tosk. Possible regional borrowing from Greek τσίχνα (tsíchna, thin smoke), itself without a clear origin and possibly borrowed, considering the words that start with ts are usually borrowed in Greek.[2][3]
