From cyd- +‎ gweld (to see).

  • (North Wales) IPA(key): /ˌkɨːdˈwɛld/, /ˌkɨ̞dˈwɛld/
  • (South Wales) IPA(key): /ˌkiːdˈwɛld/, /ˌkɪdˈwɛld/

Verb

cyd-weld (first-person singular present cydwelaf)

  1. (intransitive) to agree
    Synonyms: cydsynio, cytuno
    Antonyms: anghyd-weld, anghydsynio, anghytuno

Usage notes

  • As the stress on the final syllable, technically, this should be spelt with a hyphen as cyd-weld. However, the older spelling cydweld is very familiar and so extremely common.
