From décrocher + -age. Originating in Québec, this term has spread throughout the Francosphere, along with the related term décrocheur.

- (education) the act of dropping out from school
- (driving) the sudden loss of grip by a car's tyres
- (broadcasting) the segment of programming during which different regions receive localised programs and/or advertising; regional variation
Usage notes
- The sense dropping out is used mostly of dropouts who give up school at the secondary or CEGEP level without acquiring a professional or higher education.
