From décrocher +‎ -age. Originating in Québec, this term has spread throughout the Francosphere, along with the related term décrocheur.

  2. (art) the closing ceremony of an exhibition
  3. (education) the act of dropping out from school

Usage notes

  • The sense dropping out is used mostly of dropouts who give up school at the secondary or CEGEP level without acquiring a professional or higher education.
