Etymology 2

In spite of Baxter-Sagart (2014)'s proposal, this term certainly was not derived from Old Chinese (OC *kə.dˤok-s) (B-S) (SV: đậu), which yielded nóc (rooftop) instead through the regular sound-change which yielded also Vietnamese nong (winnowing basket) from Proto-Austroasiatic *kɗoːŋ ((idem))).
