Etymology 2
In spite of Baxter-Sagart (2014)'s proposal, this term certainly was not derived from Old Chinese 脰 (OC *kə.dˤok-s) (B-S) (SV: đậu), which yielded nóc (“rooftop”) instead through the regular sound-change which yielded also Vietnamese nong (“winnowing basket”) from Proto-Austroasiatic *kɗoːŋ (“(idem)”)).
Noun

- Lấy dọc dao mà dần xương ― Use the knife's spine to crush the bones
- stem, mouthpiece (of a pipe)
