făușel
Romanian
Etymology
Unknown. Though possibly a diminutive of an old Romanian *fauă, attested to in the Aromanian fauã (“bean”), from Latin faba (“bean”). The original form of the diminutive is unclear but is probably either from *făucel (with the suffix -cel) (compare the change of obicinui to obișnui) or from a double diminutive *fauș (with the suffix -uș), later also with the suffix -el. The exact cause for being a neuter however is unclear.
The analogy or comparison would be that of a small egg from a young hen to a bean[1]
