Etymology

From Ancient Greek ἡπατοσκοπία (hēpatoskopía), from ἥπατος (hḗpatos), genitive form of ἧπαρ (hêpar, liver) + σκοπέω (skopéō, to see). Equivalent to hepato- +‎ -scopy.
