Compound of kebab (kebab) +‎ sås (sauce). According to the National Library of Sweden's newspaper archive attested since 1991.

  1. Any of a wide variety of sauces served with kebab; a sauce based on fermented dairy (e.g. yoghurt, sourcream, crème fraîche, filmjölk) with additional ingredients for flavour (e.g. mayonnaise, tomato sauce, onion, garlic, chili, herbs).

Usage notes

In Norrland, a dressing called orientdressing is also popular on kebab.
