3. (colloquial) a person (who deviates from the norm, often through entertainingly bold or (by ironic extension) eccentric or outrageous behavior)

   Some dude ("player") has nailed the entrance to the city hall shut with boards

English player is a false friend in (sense 2). Not intrinsically about picking up romantic partners, where player is often used as a loanword instead. See also tjejtjusare.
