Inherited from Old Spanish losenja, from Old Occitan lauzenja, lausenga, from Old French losenge (deception, flattery), either from Frankish *lausungu (deception, lying), in which case cognate with English leasing (lying, fraud, falsehood, deceit); or, from Late Latin laudemia (with the ending by analysis with the opposite blasphemia), from Latin laus (praise).[1]
