Etymology

From New Latin, from Ancient Greek Λυκάων (Lukáōn, “Lycaon”) the mythological king of Arcadia who was transformed into a wolf by Zeus, λυκάων (lukáōn, “wolves”), from λύκος (lúkos, “wolf”).
