Conjugation
It is conjugated only in the 3rd person. In the 1st and 2nd person, nem is used before the correct form of van:
- Nem vagyok otthon. ― I am not at home.
- Nem vagy otthon. ― You are not at home.
- Nincs otthon. ― He/she is not at home.
- Nem vagyunk otthon. ― We are not at home.
- Nem vagytok otthon. ― You are not at home.
- Nincsenek otthon. ― They are not at home.
It is contracted with sem (“……either”) into sincs (“it/there isn't, either”).
