Cognates include Lithuanian vãbalas, vãbuolas (“insect”), vãbolė, vabolė̃ (“dung beetle”), Russian dialectal ве́блица (véblica, “intestinal worm”), Old High German wibil, Old Saxon *wivil (“beetle”), English weevil (“beetle sp.”).[1]
