Why are pixels square?
Pixels in screens are square, but I'm not sure why.
Both pixelated images look pretty bad - but I'm not sure there's any advantage of squares over hexagons here.
Hexagons also divide up into 3 colours nicely:

How to scale a bitmap in Photoshop without anti-aliasing?
I have this pixely layer which I need to scale 200% in both directions. Since the pixels should be exactly double the size, I expect no anti-aliasing. (fuzziness). However, the newly sized image is all blurry.
