Use this tag for issues regarding selection when editing images. Most programs have tools to select all or parts of an image, for example:

  • Marquee tools: e.g. Rectangular or circular area selection
  • Free select: a.k.a Lasso tool, allows you to draw a free-hand area to be selected.
  • Magic select: uses an algorithmic process to "snap" a free selection to a subject within an image, based on pixel colours and mouse movements.
