Usage notes

The ending -e is reduced in the negation form (while spoken). Hence the written form "årsk itj" (or "osjkitj") is used, when the standard spelling is "orkar ikkje" (Bokmål spelling: orker ikke).

Compare to "funk itj" ("does not work"), "lik itj" ("does not like"), "hæl itj" ("does not stand (smth.), does not bother (to do smth.)"), "skjøn itj" ("does not understand"), etc.
