Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *pléh₁-dʰ-uh₁, from *pleh₁- (to fill). Related to πλήθω (plḗthō, to be(come) full) and πίμπλημι (pímplēmi, to fill). Cognate with Latin plēbēs, older form of plēbs.
