1. (historical, politics) boyar, barin, nobleman, gentleman, landlord (a rank of aristocracy in Russia)

   Synonym: (an older term) боя́рин (bojárin)

2. (archaic) sir, master (a term of address used by a lower-class person for a nobleman, or a third-person reference to a nobleman)
