  1. (transitive) to spurn, despise
    • Tanach, Proverbs 5:12, with translation of the New International Version:

      wəʾāmartā ʾêḵ śānēʾṯî mûsār wətôḵáḥaṯ nāʾaṣ libbî
      You will say, “How I hated discipline! How my heart spurned correction!”
