Inherited from Middle Hindi بهو (bhv /bahū/) (c. 1609),[1], from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀯𑀳𑀽 (vahū), 𑀯𑀥𑀽 (vadhū), from Sanskrit वधू (vadhū́).[2][3][4]
