Etymology 1
Inherited from Aramaic טוּרָא (ṭūrā), from Proto-Semitic *ṯ̣urr-; cognate to Arabic ظِرّ (ẓirr), Hebrew צוּר (tsúr, “cliff; rock”), Akkadian 𒎎𒅗 (ṣurrum), aswell as also borrowed into Classical Arabic طُور (ṭūr). Compare also the root of ܛܲܪܵܢܵܐ (ṭarrānā, “flint”).
