Usage notes
In spoken Tamil, however, its pronunciations have been increasingly indistinguishable with other consonants.
- Single ற் (ṟ) merges with ர் (r).
- Geminated ற்ற் (ṟṟ) merges with த்த் (tt).
- Postnasal ன்ற் (ṉṟ) usually merges with ண்ண் (ṇṇ), although at least in Sri Lanka or Sanketi dialect, it may merge with ண்ட் (ṇṭ) instead.
