From (kusa, grass, weed, herb) + clipping of 短冊 (tanzaku, small strip of paper that can be written on).

  1. (hanafuda) A card combination made with every hanafuda card depicting a red tanzaku without writing on it, except for that of the (あめ) (ame, rain) suit; i.e. a combination of the wisteria tanzaku card, the iris tanzaku card, and the bush clover tanzaku card.

      A card with a tanzaku on a willow tree drawn on it. It is an unfortunate card that is often not included in yaku such as kusatan.
