Etymology
Alternative form of -της (-tēs) or -τής (-tḗs, masculine suffix), with a sigma σ added by rebracketing of agent nouns from verbs in -άζω (-ázō). Used on stems ending in α, such as δυνά-στης (duná-stēs) from δύνα-μαι (dúna-mai).
