From ade(l)a (“hunter”) + me- (negation particle) + kpɔ (“to see”) + xe (“bird”), literally “[month where] the hunter did not find the bird”, traditionally referring to hunters unable to hunt animals, especially birds, due to foggy conditions during this period.
