Reconstruction:Proto-Germanic/razną
Proto-Germanic
Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *h₁rh̥₁-s-nó-m,[1] from *h₁reh₁- (“to rest”) + *-s-[2] + *-nóm, related to *rastō (“rest”) (from Proto-Indo-European *h₁rh̥₁-s-tó-s). Alternatively, cognate with Proto-Balto-Slavic *radás (“birth, genus”), from *(H)rodʰ-sno-m,[3] from a *(H)redʰ- (“to appear, come into existence”) + *-snom.
